Iszczak vs. Doduk (Family Tree)
October 20th, 2008 by Barbara Doduk
Ivan ISZCZAK (aka John Doduk) my grandfather on my father’s side, was born August 26th, 1911 (1907) in Stojanow, Radziechow, Poland.
He lied about his age and came to Canada at 16. Although he changed the name to Doduk (1950) a few years after my father (1947) and aunt (1949) were born, just after he received his Canadian Citizenship.
Doduk is supposedly the maiden name of his mother, my great grandmother.
My grandfather owned his own tailor company (and the building) located on Water Street in Gastown Vancouver.
My grandfather’s youngest brother Alexander found my grandfather Ivan (aka John) in Vancouver BC and moved there.
Ivan (aka John) suffered from heart problems and retired the company a few years before I was born.
He died 3 months after my birth in June 1973.
